(yeah, the picture's over 10 years old... deal with it ) Hi, my name's Kentaro (a.k.a. "Ken") Watanabe (a.k.a. "John Smith" to some people at the Rescue Squad ^_^). I'm a 30-something Japanese-American with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. (Not that I've put the degree to any use... ) I've worked in the information technology field since then, and moved to the Washington, DC metro area in 2003. I currently work in downtown DC providing internal IT support. I spent 12 years as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in New York, volunteering at Waterford Rescue Squad and RPI Ambulance, so I used to not get much sleep unless it was an uneventful shift... ("Don't say the 'Q' word!!!") [For those of you not involved with Emergency Medical Services, the word is Q-U-I-E-T] Probably retired from EMS at this point, although it seems they have some decent tax breaks for volunteers in MD, so who knows? Hobbies and interests include, but not limited to: (in some vague order of importance) CHOCOLATE! (and coffee!) EMS (actually, should count as a way of life, but... ^_^) Anime (Japanese animation) Science fiction (finally starting to catch up on reading Analogs while commuting on the Red Line) Gaming - strategy, board and role-playing (Star Fleet Battles, anyone?) Sketching Photography
